Toronto Caribbean Carnival
The Toronto Caribbean Carnival is an exciting three-week cultural explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine, and revelry, as well as visual and performing arts. It has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. As Carnival is an international cultural phenomenon, the great metropolis of Toronto and its environs will come alive as the city explodes with the pulsating rhythms and melodies of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Chutney, Steel Pan and Brass Bands. The Festival Management Committee oversees the organization of North America’s largest outdoor festival.
GACN Section and Participation
This year’s Toronto Caribbean Carnival, “Caribana,” will highlight the theme “Africa in Toronto” which will celebrate the motherland in Canada’s largest Black parade. Featured floats will include the highlighting of Ghana, South Africa, and our very own GACN, “All African” Float. We will be 1 out of 4 sections with D’Regulars 48ft Flatbed float number 7, who will also be showcasing 3 different Caribbean regalia sections. This allows us to further display Toronto’s Pan-African Unity.
GACN’s mission is to display a wide range of traditional African Attire from all across Africa, West to East,North to South, and continue to awaken many people within the Greater Toronto area with theknowledge of our roots and true history.
Caribana was once the celebration of the end of Slavery…
